Recording Better Interview Audio
Recording an interview is one of the most important tools a production has for storytelling. Nothing beats listening to the master of a specific trade tell what they know about a certain topic to be shared with generations to come. Do you know the basics of recording? Let’s step it up and record even BETTER interview audio for increased quality in your production.
When recording interviews, there are two specific parts to the puzzle: the video, and the audio. Many times, people will frame up a beautiful image only to use camera audio. They may even have the misfortune of relying only on poorly placed wireless microphones.
Recording an interview is much more than putting a lavalier on a person’s chest. The way you choose to record the sound can literally make or break your product. You owe it to yourself and your production to watch this series of videos to learn the process of recording the main track for all your documentaries, commercials, news shows, and reality shows. When an interview is recorded poorly it can haunt you through post-production, costing more money to fix tracks and problems that would have been avoided with a little extra effort and a better game plan.
In this course, you will learn a tried and true method that you can use to improve the quality of your interview recordings. You’ll also get to know some production lingo and etiquette that you will need in order to look and sound like a professional. Get to recording your best audio possible!
Learn the entire process. What gear to purchase, how to prepare for the job, and how to record properly. Finally, we are going to swing full circle and show you a great way to label your audio properly before turning it in.

Essential Beginner course
Interviews are a staple product in the video industry. If you work in video, you WILL record interviews at some point. Because they are ubiquitous, interviews can begin to seem easy and boring. This course reminds us all of the importance of STORYTELLING in our work and the care we must take to record the words spoken by our subjects, not just the sounds they emit from their mouths. This course is best for beginners to audio recording, and those who do not specialize in audio recording but want to have a strong grasp of the fundamentals. No question is too stupid, all aspects of recording an interview are laid bare and explored in fine detail. Great course, worth the money, and will absolutely return on the investment if you follow its guidelines. Enjoy!

I wish I would have had access to this in Collage
In college I was studying film and wanting to get into Sound. All of the audio profs were very music based so I would rely heavily on videos I would find from interviews with pros. I would have loved to have had this as a resource. Well worth your time!
